

Where do I start my building project?
If you are like me, you'd like a "To-Do List" in order to understand how to get my project finished in a timely manner. Below are the normal steps for a building project that is a house or garage or accessory building.

01 Get Your Zoning Application
This is the first item you should think of doing. Our Zoning Application is readily available. Fill it out and do a Site Plan that is like the sample on the application.
02 Get Well and Septic Permits
As you are doing your zoning permit process, you can also work on your well and septic permits from the District #10 Health Department in Manistee. Their number is (231) 723-3595 and they are located at 385 3rd Street in Manistee.


03 Within 500' of Water, Get Soil Erosion Permit from County
This is another thing you should check on. If you are within 500' of a body of water, you should check with the county if you need a soil erosion permit. The Soil Erosion Application is needed for this permit.
04 Address Application from County.
After receiving your zoning permit from us, it is also up to you to get an address from the county. The Address Application can be filled out by you and submitted to the county. You can add the zoning permit to the application for ease in getting an address.
